My name is Rachelle Hernandez and I am a nursing student at DePaul University.
In the past ten years, there has been a significant rise in the number of individuals with food allergies in the United States many of them children. A food allergy is a potentially fatal medical condition that causes the immune system to attack certain food proteins and cause an allergic reaction. Due to the public’s underestimation of this disease, more education and awareness needs to be implemented to ensure the public’s understanding of the seriousness of the disease. Therefore, I am determined to educate, raise awareness, provide recent scientific research, and initiate even the smallest of actions to support food allergy awareness through this blog. I invite you to read through my posts and gain insight into the mystery behind food allergies.
One last note, because I am a life enthusiast and I love pondering about the meaning of life, I realized that one of life’s greatest gifts is the ability to inspire and being able to inspire others is one of life’s greatest successes. Passion inspires people and if you are passionate about something, don’t be afraid to let the world know! All you have to do is to find yourself.
